A man has fallen into a bonfire in Pukekohe, South of Auckland, and has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The fire service said they were called to the scene at about 8.30pm, where a bonfire was burning in the middle of a paddock.
They said the man was being taken to Middlemore Hospital.
Meanwhile fire fighters in the South Island have been busy with multiple callouts.
A fire service spokesperson said most of the calls were coming in from Selwyn and Waimakariri in Canterbury, and Dunedin and Timaru.
It is Guy Fawkes tomorrow with many people letting fireworks off tonight.
