Police are urging the driver who fled after crashing into a house in the Auckland suburb of Onehunga on Friday, leaving one woman dead in the car, to come forward.
A Nissan Pulsar which had earlier been stolen from Mount Roskill crashed into a house, killing a 25-year-old woman shortly after 10pm. Two other females, aged 16 and 17, were injured and are in a critical condition.
The car's driver, and possibly other passengers, ran away from the crash. They were picked up by a second vehicle, a Mitsubishi, which had been stolen from Onehunga a short time before.
The stolen Mitsubishi was found at 5pm on Saturday at Point Chevalier.
Inspector Kerry Watson says it's too late to change the outcome of the crash but the driver needs to do the right thing and come forward.
He says both vehicles are being forensically examined and several people are assisting the police with their inquiries.
