Parts of central New Zealand are in for a soaking from heavy rain or a buffeting from high winds as a front moves across the country overnight on Saturday.
MetService says a period of heavy rain is likely for the ranges of Buller, including
the Paparoa Range, and the Richmond Range.
There is a heavy rainfall warning for Westland.
And in the North Island, there are heavy rain warnings for Mt Taranaki, Bay of Plenty and northern Gisborne.
A deep low is expected to bring a period of northwest gales to Wellington and Wairarapa late on Sunday afternoon and evening, with the possibility they may become severe.
