Police expect to lay further charges at the next court appearance of a man accused of murdering 32-year-old Ravneet Sangha at her Tauranga home.
The body of her two-year-old daughter Anna was discovered concealed in the house on Monday.
More than 20 detectives are tracing Deepak Nagpal's movements since he flew to Auckland from India on Tuesday last week.
It is believed he travelled to Tauranga last Friday and back to Auckland on Saturday.
Inspector Mike Clement says Mr Nagpal, 23, lived with the Sanghas in Otumoetai for several months but had been overseas for weeks.
He says while the causes of both deaths are suppressed, post mortems were conclusive.
The Ngatai Rd property is likely to be released as a crime scene on Friday, as the funerals take place.
At Tauranga District Court on Thursday, Mr Nagpal was remanded in custody for two weeks.
The judge, speaking to Mr Nagpal through an interpreter, made several new suppression orders, including details of the causes of both deaths.
No charge has been laid in relation to the child's death.
Her father, and Mrs Sangha's husband, Dev Sangha, was among members of the Indian community in the public gallery of court.
Police appeal for information
Police investigating the case are trying to trace the movements of Mr Nagpal.
Inspector Mike Clement is appealing for information or sightings of the accused last week.
He says of particular interest is any activity at the Ngatai Rd address on Friday and Saturday.
