An appeal hearing for convicted killer Clayton Weatherston has been put on hold following a telephone conference in the Court of Appeal.
Weatherston was jailed for a minimum term of 18 years in September last year, after he was found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend and student, Sophie Elliott, 22.
Weatherston stabbed her 216 times in her family's home in Dunedin in 2008.
In October last year, lawyers for the former Otago University tutor filed an appeal against his conviction.
The case was set down for hearing in August, but that hearing date has been set aside, following a telephone conference on Wednesday.
A court official says no new date has been allocated for the appeal hearing.
