DoC appoints business advisor

8:30 am on 10 June 2010

The Department of Conservation has appointed a prominent environmental businessman as a key advisor on commercialisation.

Rob Fenwick has been named as a part-time advisor to help the department set up a commercial business unit.

DoC says Mr Fenwick will help the department grow private business support for conservation work.

However, Environment & Conservation Organisations co-chair Cath Wallace says there's a danger that if DoC gets too focused on business interests, it will neglect its core conservation mandate.
