Girls charged over assault on boy

Police are investigating the beating up of a boy by three teenage girls in an attack in the Taylor River Reserve in Blenheim.

Police say the boy, aged 16, was knocked out with a punch to the face and when he came to he was kicked, kneed and punched again.

He needed hospital treatment for bruising and grazes to his face and head.

Two girls, aged 14 and aged 17, have been charged with assault with intend to injure and a third female is being sought.
