Police in Taupo say the death of a pighunter serves as a warning to hunters to accurately alert people to where they are going.
Martin Duff, 60, from Tokaanu, was found dead in the bush between National Park and Turangi on Monday, five days after he was due back.
Family members raised the alarm on Saturday.
Police say hunters need to stick to their plan and carry a mobile GPS.
