A man is in Hawke's Bay Hospital, after a 15 minute police pursuit ended on the Napier waterfront on Monday night.
Following a domestic incident, the man, 35, was being along Marine Parade where his car hit a tree at about 9.30pm.
He was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Police say he will face driving charges.
The Independent Police Conduct Authority will investigate the incident.
