A District Court judge has adjourned the trial of a high-profile public servant from Wellington accused of assaulting another person in the back of a car.
The man's name and identifying details are suppressed.
Witnesses have accused him of taking the complainant down a street in central Wellington before putting him into a car and punching him several times.
The complainant earlier told the court the accused had never punched him.
The trial will resume on Monday, when the judge is expected to sum up and send the jury out to deliberate.
