Police investigating the shooting of a Taupo boy with an air rifle have referred his teenage brother to their Youth Aid section.
The boy, 12, was shot in the face early on Thursday near his home at Wairakei.
His condition is not life-threatening.
Police say they have interviewed two family members and say the victim's brother, 16, is being dealt with by Youth Aid for careless use of a firearm.
Their father, 43, has been charged with cultivating cannabis, after officers executed a search warrant.
