A boy is in a critical condition after he was hit by an electric gate.
Emergency services were called to the Auckland Botanic Gardens at 2.45pm.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said the 7-year-old boy was taken to the Kidz First Children's Hospital at Middlemore in a critical condition.
Police said he was hit by an electric gate at the entrance of the gardens.
She said WorkSafe had been notified.
