A man police accuse of setting up a confrontation with officers, during which he was shot, has admitted charges laid against him.
Actor Robert Mokaraka, 36, was injured outside a house in the Auckland suburb of Pt Chevalier last July.
Police say they went to the address after reports of a possible violent confrontation and fired on Mokaraka when he advanced on officers with what appeared to be a weapon.
In the Auckland District Court on Wednesday, Mokaraka pleaded guilty to two charges of threatening to kill a police officer and two of assaulting a police officer. He was remanded on bail for sentencing in July.
He left the courthouse surrounded by supporters, but wouldn't comment.
