Police have released details of the attempted abduction of a 15-year-old girl in the Auckland suburb of Onehunga.
They said a man approached the teenager in a car while she was waiting for her mother to pick her up at the bus stop on Beachcroft Avenue about 4pm.
The stranger claimed her mother had sent him to pick her up, the police said, and when she refused to get into the car he grabbed her and tried to force her in.
They said the man was interrupted by a group of teenage boys, and took off.
The man was described as about 40 years old, of average build, in a dark suit. His vehicle was described as a white four-door sedan.
