Rugby World Cup ticket warning

11:55 am on 21 April 2010

Official ticket sellers for next year's Rugby World Cup say ticket-buyers are at risk of paying thousands of dollars for corporate packages from unauthorised operaters which won't get them into any games.

At least one business has already paid $25,000 for a corporate package from a Singapore firm for tickets to an All Blacks game against France at Eden Park.

Rugby Travel and Hospitality Unlimited has the official rights to sell corporate packages and could use powers to raid unofficial corporate functions and seize tickets.

Operations manager David White told Nine To Noon people may be prevented from entering the grounds.

He says the Ministry of Economic Development is working to crack down on unauthorised operators.

Rugby World Cup general manager Ross Young said he hopes to raise awareness among the public and clamp down on any unauthorised operators.
