Primrose and Finch, which has outlets in Melbourne and Auckland, went into liquidation two days ago.

Owners Kerry and Matthew Smith have disappeared without trace, taking with them thousands of dollars in deposits for bespoke wedding dresses.

Dave Schrembi, of Melbourne, said he and his fiancee paid nearly $5000 for a dress but now she had nothing to wear - and they were due to be married next month.

"They've taken thousands, thousands upon thousands of dollars to people that are looking forward to their special one-day of a lifetime event with someone they cherish and love, they're playing with people's heartfelt feelings."

Mr Schrembi said the boutique's owners had ruined what was meant to be a precious day for many.

Checkpoint unsuccessfully tried to contact Primrose and Finch's liquidator, Bryan Williams.
