A person is in a serious condition in hospital after driving into an ambulance and causing it to topple over, in Auckland's Mt Roskill in the early hours.

Police said the car was speeding along Mt Albert Road just after 4am when it hit a St John Ambulance.
Firefighters had to free the driver from the car.
An ambulance spokesperson said their two staff members were left shaken but unhurt.
Mt Albert Road was closed from Hillsborough Road to Buckley Road as emergency services dealt with the scene.
