Police say they have spoken to the driver of the white ute that was sought in relation to a cyclist crashing into a milk tanker on the Coromandel Peninsula.
The cyclist was taken to Auckland Hospital by helicopter with multiple injuries and he is now in a stable condition.
The man was taking part in a race when he rode into a milk tanker just north of Wharekaho/Simpsons Beach.
Police say the driver of the ute is a witness, although there are some issues around how the ute was being driven before the crash.
