Occupants of car linked to fatal crash found

The occupants of a white car linked to a crash that killed four people in Hamilton on Friday night have been found, police say.

The four young people died after the car they were in collided with a van near Hamilton Airport.

Police had been appealing for information about the white car, which they said might have been travelling with the victims' vehicle.

Lance Tyrone Robinson, 28, Paul De Silva, 20, Hannah Lei Strickett-Craze, 24, and Jason McCormick Ross, 19, were killed when the Nissan Skyline they were in lost control at a bend along State Highway 3 and crashed into the oncoming van.

The driver of the van was taken to Waikato Hospital with serious injuries.

The occupants of the white car were identified this morning, and were being interviewed by police.

The driver of a red car that stopped at the crash scene had also contacted police, and had been interviewed.

Waikato Road Policing Manager Freda Grace said speed and alcohol were considered likely factors in the crash.
