Police in Lower Hutt investigating the death of a child in a church carpark say it is the second such fatal incident there.
Levi Falemoe, 5, died on Sunday after being struck by a vehicle while playing with other children at the Assembly of God courtyard.
Detective Sergeant Dean Simpson says it is the second time a child's life has been taken in the carpark.
He says a similar incident several years ago has prompted police to question the safety of the carpark.
Mr Simpson says police will talk to church officials about ways to avoid further incidents.
