The mother of Paralympian gold medallist Adam Hall has been killed in a car crash.
Gayle Hall, 48, had just dropped her son off at Dunedin Airport when her car left Otokia Road on Wednesday. Police say it is unclear what caused it to crash.
Mrs Hall travelled to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver to see the skier win the downhill slalom ski event in March.
Disability Issues Minister Taria Turia has expressed her condolences on Wednesday.
Mrs Turia says she remembers the look of pride on Mrs Hall's face when Adam picked up the gold medal and says her thoughts are with him and his family.
Paralympics New Zealand says Mrs Hall will be sorely missed.
