A nationwide appeal to support the family of an Auckland taxi driver who was stabbed to death in what police described as a frenzied knife attack at the end of January, has raised over $100,000.
Hiren Mohini, 39, was killed early on Sunday, 31 January, after driving a passenger from Sky City to Mount Eden.
Auckland Co-op Taxis says the Mohini family wanted to thank people for their generosity.
General manager Barrie White says everyone recognises the challenges Mr Mohini's family continues to face and the proceeds of the appeal will help them.
He says no-one believes any level of financial help replaces Mr Mohini's loss, but hopefully it will relieve some of the pressures and burdens.
Police in Auckland have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect, but have suppressed the man's identity.
