Pharmacist found guilty of professional misconduct

A charge of misconduct has been upheld against a pharmacist who changed the expiry date on medicines and transported other medicines amongst dirty laundry.

The Health and Disciplinary Tribunal has ruled that the pharmacist put the safety of patients at risk while he owned a pharmacy in Te Anau.

It upheld a charge of misconduct brought by the Pharmacy Council after health officials inspected Julian Price's Te Anau workplace in 2007.

It says several medicines were manufactured in potentially unsanitary conditions by an unqualified staff member.

They were transported in a laundry truck.

The tribunal has barred Mr Price from registering as a pharmacist for another two years.

He will face supervision and several work assessments if he subsequently returns.
