Christchurch children made ill by factory fumes

10:12 pm on 25 September 2008

Canterbury Regional Council is investigating a Christchurch factory after children at a nearby school became sick from the fumes.

Fumes from a benchtop factory swept over the Phillipstown Primary School on Tuesday afternoon.

The regional council says it has been assured that no more chemicals will be released into the atmosphere during school hours.

It is now investigating whether the factory has a consent to release solvent-based gases.
