An award-winning New Zealand actor facing sex charges can keep his name secret - for now.

The man, who is in his 40s, appeared in the Auckland District Court today facing four charges of indecent assault and two of unlawful sexual connection.
He has pleaded not guilty and the case will go to trial.
Judge Anne Kiernan said she had received affadavits from the actor's lawyers only today so an argument over name suppression could not be heard immediately.
A date for the argument has been set for next Thursday.
