Concerned parents are calling for an urgent meeting with a commissioner appointed to run a failing school in Northland.
The Minster of Education has appointed experienced commissioner Dennis Finn to take over the running of Opononi Area School in Hokianga, following a highly critical report by the Education Review Office.
A spokesperson for the parents, Lena Adams, says the community is not reassured by promises that resources at the school will be held at its present entitlement.
She says because the roll has dropped by a third, it still stands to lose four teachers - making its future uncertain.
Mrs Adams says the Hokianga community wants to be included in decisions affecting the troubled school.
