Police say a takeaway store owner who was beaten unconscious on Thursday night cannot yet be interviewed due to his injuries.
The man, 39, has severe facial wounds after being assaulted by two males at about 11pm on Thursday at his kebab store on Wairau Road in Glenfield, on the North Shore of Auckland.
Police earlier described his injuries as horrific.
He is no longer in a coma but is expected to require a lengthy period of recuperation in Auckland Hospital.
Police say he will not be able to be interviewed for a few days due to his injuries.
