Don your sunnies, your stubbies, your jandals - and take note of the glorious sunshine, whether you're at work, leisure, or somewhere in between. Summer is here!
In a manner of speaking, anyway: MetService has promised sun-starved New Zealanders a few spectacular days, with temperatures hitting 20 degrees in the north, and soaring to the mid-twenties today and tomorrow on eastern parts of both islands, as warm northwesterlies come blowing through.
The specifics are terrific: Christchurch is forecast to hit a stonking 26°C, while Gisborne is currently enjoying 23°C today, up to a sizzling 27°C tomorrow.
If it doesn't seem normal for October, that's because it isn't: temperatures are about 8°C higher than the average for this time of year.
All in all, it's clear heavens, warm temperatures and lovely sunshine for Auckland, Hamilton, Canterbury and Dunedin.
Wellington too can look forward to sunshine, though it will still be at least a little windy and cold.
But it isn't all blue skies. The winds - and gales, in some places - that whipped through from Southland to the Wairarapa are yet to entirely settle down, with a possibility of more gusts on Wednesday.
The wet and windy West Coast will miss out on the mostly dry conditions. Still, Greymouth residents can look forward to a week that is simply "changeable", rather than out-and-out "wet", says MetService.
Make the most of the weather while it lasts - by the end of Thursday, things will largely be back to more normal spring temperatures, just in time for the end of the school holidays.
