Nelson Hospital admits serious mistakes

Nelson Hospital says it is reviewing its procedures after admitting a series of administrative mistakes.

The hospital sent private medical information to the wrong patients for the second time in two months.

One of the recipients was the mother of Glenys McLay, 49, who died last year after her medical notes were misplaced by the hospital.

Widower Peter McLay says he fears nothing has been done to stop such administrative errors happening again.

The Nelson Marlborough District Health Board says the hospital has begun a review of its clinical records department. The review will take at least 10 weeks.
