Heavy rain is falling in Fiordland and a severe weather warning is in place for much of the lower South Island.
MetService says 24mm fell between 9am - 11am on Sunday on Secretary Island. Heavy rain is also being recorded in Manapouri.
Rain is steady in Westland. A warning is also in place for the headwaters of the Otago lakes and rivers.
