Budget airline Pacific Blue is to charge domestic passengers paying discount fares to check-in their baggage from September.
The airline saysthe measure is partly in response to record fuel prices.
Passengers will be charged $8 to check in up to 23kg of baggage.
Pacific Blue says the fee will be applicable to bookings made after 18 August for flights from 1 September onwards.
