Education Minister Anne Tolley has announced the make-up of an independent group to oversee the implementation of the national standards policy.
The independent advisory group will be chaired by Professor Emeritus Gary Hawke, a senior fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research.
Auckland University Professor of Education John Hattie, an expert in measurement models, is joined by three other education professionals.
They include Professor of Literacy Education at Massey University Tom Nicholson, and teacher and the Associate Dean (Maori) at Auckland University Dr Tony Trick.
Dr Avis Glaze, a Canadian educator who played a role in the introduction of standards in Ontario schools is also on the panel.
Mrs Tolley says the group will provide her with independent, free and frank advice on national standards.
