Sir Bob Jones ejected from flight

Former politician Sir Bob Jones was ejected from a flight this morning after failing to comply with a safety briefing.

He was on Air New Zealand flight 421 travelling from Auckland to Wellington, when cabin staff attempted to instruct him of his duties as an emergency exit row passenger.

The Civil Aviation Authority said, because he was not complying with the safety briefing he was removed from the airplane.

Business Desk journalist, Pattrick Smellie, who was sitting behind him on the plane said, on his website, Mr Jones became argumentative when asked to stop reading, and refused to be instructed on emergency procedures.

A passenger on the flight, Lizzy Marvelly, said she did not see the commotion but passengers cheered as Mr Jones was led away.

"The Captain came on and he said that he apologised for the delay and he said something along the lines of: 'we can't accept anyone on a plane regardless of who they are if they don't comply with the rulings of the flight attendants."
