The first of hundreds of beneficiaries expected over three days at Work and Income in Rotorua began arriving on Monday.
Advocacy group Rotorua Peoples Union is encouraging people to apply for food grants and advances on benefits, saying many aren't receiving their full and correct entitlements.
Advocates are on hand to help with applications.
A spokesperson for the Rotorua Peoples Union, Paul Blair, says that following a similar drive in November, 200 applications for review of benefit decisions were lodged.
He says one of the big problems is the discretionary nature of grants for food or car repairs, leading to disparate experiences among claimants.
