A hearing is being sought in the Supreme Court following a recent Court of Appeal judgement on Kahawai fisheries.
Last year the High Court ordered the Government to review a 25% reduction in the Kahawai allowance for recreational anglers in 2005.
The Court of Appeal found the Government's setting of the catch limits was unlawful, but said the decision did not have to be revisited.
But it also overruled the High Court's decision that the people's social, cultural and economic wellbeing were NOT a consideration when allowing for recreational interests.
The fishing lobby group says this is the basis of its challenge in the Supreme Court.
