Fog in capital disrupts travel

12:01 pm on 18 January 2010

More than 1000 people had their travel plans disrupted, when fog grounded dozens of flights to and from Wellington on Monday morning.

The only flight that appeared to arrive on time was Prince William's aboard an RNZAF plane from Auckland just after 9.30am.

Six hundred passengers on Pacific Blue were affected when the airline cancelled four regional flights.

Qantas says a flight from Sydney on Sunday night had to be diverted to Auckland, with about 100 passengers. A Sydney-bound plane on Monday morning was delayed by more than four hours.

Jetstar passengers are also delayed.

Air New Zealand says it's had to cancel 35 flights, 23 of them regional.

However, the airline says conditions have improved and passengers will be re-booked.
