A post-mortem will be carried out today on the body of a baby who died in Hamilton of "unexplained injuries".
The seven-month-old died at Waikato Hospital at about 1pm yesterday afternoon.
Investigators will continue their work at a block of flats on the corner of Frances Street and Peachgrove Road in Hamilton.
Neighbours were being quizzed and police said they were speaking to the family of the baby.
Police said several tests may be needed to fully understand the cause of death.
No further details will be released until after the post-mortem.
Victim Support has been working with the baby's family, who police said had been very helpful.
