A seven-month-old baby admitted to Waikato Hospital with unexplained injuries has died.
The baby had been admitted to Waikato Hospital yesterday but died this afternoon.
A police spokesperson said their investigation was focused on an address in Frances Street, in Hamilton East, where a scene examination was under way.
"A number of tests and scientific analysis may be required to fully understand the cause of death," the spokesperson said.
Investigations would continue, and a post-mortem would be carried out tomorrow.
"On behalf of New Zealand Police, investigators involved in the case would like to offer sincere condolences to the family and friends of the child," the spokesperson said.
"All family members of the child have been very helpful during this difficult time."
