An apprentice jockey from Auckland is in intensive care at Auckland Hospital after falling from his horse in Whangarei yesterday.
Chris Dell suffered head injuries when he fell at the Ruakaka race track.
He was airlifted to hospital, where he's said to be in a stable condition.
The race meeting was called off after the accident.
