The police are seeking witnesses to an alleged assault on two police officers in Dunedin yesterday morning.
The police say the assault happened about 4am, outside the Reading Theatre in the Octagon, when the police responded to reports of a fight.
Detective Sergeant John MacDade said two officers tried to arrest one man but were assaulted.
Mr MacDade said there were people in the area when the assault took place, and they wished to hear from anyone who saw what happened.
He said the two police officers involved were recovering well but remained off work.
The alleged assailant is due in court today.
