A 4.5 magnitude earthquake has been felt by people in the lower North Island this morning.
GeoNet said the quake just after 10.15am was recorded 15 kilometres north-west of Castlepoint on the Wairarapa Coast, at a depth of 74 kilometres.
It said the intensity of the earthquake was light.
