4:13 pm on 24 November 2014

Name suppression has ended for a second teenager charged with the killing of a Whangarei man.

Elias Pomare is charged, along with Shayden Perkinson, with the murder of Michael Griffin last month.

The two 17-year-olds will stand trial by jury after pleading not guilty in the High Court in Whangarei.

Mr Griffin, who was 56, and had a paralysed arm, died of head injuries after he was attacked at his home in early October.

Elias Pomare was 16 at the time he was charged and was put in the custody of Child, Youth and Family, while Shayden Perkinson is in jail on remand.

Both were applying for bail next month.
