The High Court has allowed publication of the name of a teenager charged with the murder of a Whangarei man.
Shayden Perkinson, 17, is one of two young men accused of killing Michael Griffin at his home in the Avenues suburb last month.
His co-accused, who was 16 at the time of the killing, had also been denied ongoing name suppression but it continued in the meantime, pending a possible appeal.
The judge said it was alleged Mr Perkinson and the other teenager went to Mr Griffin's home and struck him on the head five times with a weapon, fracturing his skull.
He noted that Mr Griffin, a 56-year-old beneficiary, had a paralysed arm.
Shayden Perkinson is in jail on remand. The other accused is in the custody of Child, Youth and Family. Both are to appear in court next month for a bail hearing.
