The police say a 12-year-old boy who suffered a critical chest injury at a property in Bay of Plenty yesterday has died in hospital overnight.
Emergency services gave the boy CPR when they arrived at Pongakawa, near Te Puke, about 4pm yesterday.
He was then flown to Tauranga Hospital and transferred to Waikato Hospital.
Police said the incident did not appear to be suspicious, but an investigation was under way.
