Police in Christchurch are looking for a fourth man thought to have been involved in a street brawl in the city during the weekend.

Three men aged between 17 and 22 have been arrested and charged with injuring with intent after the fight broke out on Saturday night.

Detective Sergeant Chris Power said it appears that anything from pot plants to a spade, a baseball bat and the pole of a street sign were used as weapons.

Three people were injured and two of them were taken to hospital, including a bystander who received a significant injury to the back of the head when he tried to intervene.

Mr Power said police are looking for a tall, thin Maori or Polynesian man about 17 or 18 years old.

The others would appear in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday.
