Police have named the man who died yesterday morning after being hit by a vehicle in the suburb of Somerville in east Auckland.
He was Richard Samuels, a 41-year-old mechanic from Maraetai.
Counties Manukau police said a vehicle had been located and seized.
They said they have spoken to the driver, a 44-year-old Botany Downs man who was arrested late yesterday, on unrelated matters.
He is to appear in Manukau District Court tomorrow charged with three counts of obtaining by deception.
Police are seeking as many other people as possible who might have more information about the incident.
