A man has died after a fight in east Auckland in the early hours of the morning.
Police said the fight happened in Gooch Place, Sommerville, which is near Botany.
Detective Inspector Dave Lynch said at least one car fled the scene immediately after the 41-year-old was killed.
He said the area had a number of security cameras, which police hoped would be helpful.
He was not yet saying how the man died.
Police are conducting a scene examination this morning.
Mr Lynch said witnessess to the fight, or anyone from the car that left the scene, should contact them.
