Traffic is now running normally in the build-up to rush hour on State Highway 1 in Auckland despite a multi-car crash this afternoon, police say.
No one was seriously injured in the six-car pile-up, which occurred between the Symonds Street and State Highway 16 off-ramps in the central motorway junction.
A New Zealand Transport Agency spokesperson said the crash earlier closed two of the three north-bound lanes of State Highway 1, causing vehicles to bank up south beyond the Mount Wellington interchange.
Drivers were told to use the Southwestern Motorway from Manukau as an alternative route north.
