A man who was thought to be armed with a gun in South Auckland was carrying a metal pole, police say.
The police earlier said a member of the public reported seeing the man walking down a street in Manurewa, carrying a long-barrelled gun.
However, officers had tracked down the man at a house nearby and confirmed he was not an armed and that the gun was, in fact, a pole.
