The Christchurch City Council has revealed a restructuring of its staff has cost the city more than $1 million.
The council says the restructuring, which began in September last year, cost nearly $700,000 in redundancy payments to 26 employees and more than $300,000 in consultancy fees.
The council's chief operating officer, Jane Parfitt, said the restructuring had saved $1.2 million in total, and about $200,000 after cost.
She says even with redundancy and consultancy costs, in four years the council will have saved more than $3 million.
